Welcome to the website of David Barton.

My aim is to offer lessons which provide a safe, enjoyable and encouraging atmosphere in which all students are allowed to develop their skills and talents creatively. Above all, my aim is that students should enjoy whatever they choose to do.

I combine a busy schedule of teaching, organ playing, composition and work with amateur dramatic societies and young people's music and drama groups.

Teaching

I teach flute, piano, singing and music theatre from beginner level to grade 8, and music theory from beginner level to grade 5. Age is no barrier to starting a new instrument - my oldest pupil is 71! Click here to read more

Composing

My compositions are published in the UK and the US by a variety of publishers including Da Capo Music, Wayne Leupold Editions Inc., Canasg Choral, Amber Waves Music and Fagus Music.

Works published to date include pieces for choir, flute, oboe and organ and have appeared in collections alongside contemporary composers such as Eleanor Daley and Bryan Kelly. Performances have taken place in venues as varied as New York, Kansas City, San Francisco, Montreal, Melbourne and the Republic of Ireland, as well as in the UK. Click here to read more
