These days, the flute offers players more than just Bach and Handel. Students can opt to follow either a classical or jazz route, and in the latter, there is much opportunitiy for improvisation.

Where possible, there are always opportunities for duet and ensemble work, and there are many exams, including jazz exams, which pupils can opt to take.
